Hi

as you may know I have been building guitars on my small attic so far. Well, I am proud to say that I have a new work shop! And it's big!!

I think I told you before but my brother in law had this garage next to his house which he didn't use... strangly enough. He asked me if I wanted to rent it for a small amount of money on a monthly basis. Of course I wanted it... and I wanted it BAD!!

After investing a couple of hours building a work bench and sorting out my tools I have now an almost functional work shop. All I have to do now is wait for the money boat the arrive so I can buy some additional machines like band sanders and a bandsaw. And some material to build a spray booth. I want to spray my guitars myself so I need a place to do that. It's not going to be big but big enough to work.

Today I hooked up the sink to the drain so I have water too! Just for making coffee! This weekend I will start building the spraying booth. I can't wait to get it ready and start practicing with my spraygun. I bought this HVLP gun from Wagner. the 660. It's supposed to be very easy... I hope I can start soon.  And maybe, a very little maybe I have a customer already... So I have to do a good job spraying it. I mean you can build a great looking guitar that plays superb but if the finish looks like crap.....

I will add some pics soon...but I can tell you already, I am a very happy man!

this is the right side, below you see the left side. In total it's 5 meters from left to right...

How can you compare this to my small attic??? YOU CAN'T!!

Beneath you can see a glimps of my spraying booth. I installed a heater to make sure I have 21 degrees Celsius when I spray and I have a device that takes the humidity out of the air.  If I am not mistaken, I need between 45-60% humidity. Let's hope I can keep the dust out.  I installed a fan to suck out the fumes during spraying. And I already bought a second fan to blow filtered air into the booth to create a pressure inside the booth higher than on the outside so hopefully no dust gets in. If I have it right, this fan blows more air into the booth than the one that sucks the fumes out. Well, actually, both fans are the same but the one sucking air out has a long hose attached to it so this should give it some more resistance. The fan that blows in air has no hose. I hope the difference will be enough to create a higher pressure inside. We'll see.

hi guys, it's been a while. I'll tell you why...

As i told you before, i was waiting for my money because I have been layed off. It sucks but hey, now I can do what I like to do...  build guitars, and if something is addictive, it's building guitars..

Well, I have bought some stuff and a lil but came in today. I now have a band saw, and a belt sander.  great stuff!  at least the band saw is... here's 2 pix...

Now I ordered a belt sander too but unfortunately they delivered:

400 volt!!!!  man, I ordered 230Volt!  how hard can it be???? so I left it in the box and they'll be picking it up this tuesday and bring me the right one!  I also placed a mega order with Stewmac, they needed 5 packages to send it. Guess what happened...  the boxes got seperated and they showed up with 3 of the boxes. So my friend who wanted to sign for receipt, rejected it because he wanted all 5 boxes. So now they'll bring all 5 ( i hope) this monday. This tuesday I am taking the day of from work ( even it is the last week before the final closing)  to organize all the goodies from stewmac and to receive the 230V belt sander. I can't wait!!

I made some changes too to my work shop:

resting on top of the work bench, it was a little too high, now it's perfect, I can take it out and put in the piece of wood I took out to fit it in. Made some templates too:

What else?  Oh yeah, I bought a little oil free compressor for airbrush paiting.. But I have to be a little more patient before I can start working on my guitars. I voluntered today to help with dismantling the factory I worked at.. That will keep me busy untill March next year... That won't mean I won't do anything, but I have to wait before I can realy start my business...
